Apple Walnut Bundt Cake with Cinnamon Brown Sugar Sauce

Ingredients

Apple Walnut Cake

  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1 1/4 cups canola oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 3 large gala apples
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • juice of 1/2 of a lemon

Cinnamon Brown Sugar Sauce

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp butter

Instructions

Apple Walnut Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 325℉.

  2. Grease and flour a bundt pan.

  3. Peel, core, and chop apples.  Toss in a bowl with lemon juice and set aside.

  4. Combine oil, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl.  Mix using a hand mixer.

  5. Add eggs and vanilla yogurt and mix again.

  6. In a separate bowl, sift flour.  Add salt and baking soda.

  7. Add dry ingredients to wet, a little at a time.

  8. Once the batter is smooth, fold in apples and walnuts.

  9. Pour into greased and floured bundt pan.  Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a fork inserted comes out clean.

  10. Cool.

  11. Turn upside down onto a plate.

Cinnamon Brown Sugar Sauce

  1. Melt butter in a small pot over medium-low heat.

  2. Add brown sugar.  Stir until melted.

  3. Add milk.

  4. As it starts to boil, add cinnamon, a little at a time, and stir.

  5. Cook for 30 seconds and stir in vanilla.

  6. Set aside and allow to cool for 1 minute.

  7. Pour over cake.
